And this, yes. the Spock/Chapel stuff wasn't really launched by Amok Time, though. It was written and filmed after The Naked Time, which if I recall goes sometime in mid season 1 while Amok Time is 20...4 or something like that in filming/airing order.
NB TFV, The Naked Time will not be for your watching probably, because didn't you say you didn't want to trip your embarrassment squick? Spock gets drunk on an airborne virus that acts like powerful alcohol or mild drugs, and cries about his mother, and tries to beat up Kirk (with homoerotic overtones, yes), and Chapel confronts him with her love for him explicitly and he rejects her. She's crying too. It's painful for everybody.
