Do You Own a Dinosaur?

My sister is trying to put together a data set (so that she can teach people to export and use said data set in Excel and SPSS - she leads a fun life), and she has a short survey about dinosaurs she'd like people to take.

15 minutes! Dinosaur owners and non-dinosaur-owners welcome! Please help! Because otherwise Cousin Z and I will have to take this survey 100 times each, and the data we get is likely to be a whole lot less useful. Also, we'll probably end up twitching and frothing, which would be tragic.

I filled it out about hand-made plush dinosaurs, since I don't actually own any live ones as pets.

(I do know people who have pet dinosaurs, though. At least according to my last paleontology prof, who told us that according to all scientific measure, birds are dinosaurs, and therefore we should refer to birds as dinosaurs whenever possible, and who wants to stop at KFC for some fried dino for lunch?)

I thought "dinosaur-owners" actually meant people who had... I don't know, plastic dinosaurs? So the note at the beginning of the survey that said I could fill it out any way I wanted was most useful. Hee!

Wow, I haven't thought about dinosaurs in years ... and I had a very nice collection of plastic ones as a kid. Plus a fuzzy purple one from ... Disneyland, I think. America, anyway.

Do all kids go through a dino stage?

Didn't Triceratops just get un-dinosaur'd? I was more surprised than I've been since they decided there's no such thing as Brontosaurus anymore. (But maybe it was Stegasaurus that this happened to. I'll have to investigate.)

Triceratops are still dinosaurs, they're just baby dinosaurs! They are the juvenile form of Torosaurus.

I have to admit, thrilling though this survey was -- very thrilling! -- I am more concerned by the fact that the odds of me having lived within a five minute radius of your sister last year are about 90%.
