Manga is the number one sign of girl-friendliness, as far as I can tell. I mean, not even explicit yaoi; just, a good selection of manga = "We are prepared to accept customers of ALL genders!"

I should probably try looking for a local comic book store that sells manga. Of course, this experience has made me want to haul my poor kid into every comic book store in Long Beach, just to see what happens.
