Okay see I love your icon, Stella.

And I'm spamming you, TFV, sorry.

But I (fortunately) never ran into Sparky till this rant. I hope to God I don't once I leave this page. And I'll readily admit to being a McShepper - and using that term (though not exclusively). I figure, if it's not going to be confused with other possible name-derived pairings (such as Chlois verus Clois or something) and it's not got any ridiculous non-name words in it (can anyone tell me who SS Guns & Handcuffs is?) then it's relatively harmless to use.

Of course then there's the ones like Silentshipping, Puzzleshipping, Kickshipping...I hail from the land of YGO and it is .not. a happily-named place. No matter how amusing I find the names personally, I'm *in* fandom, and I don't *need* to be explained to. So it doesn't matter if *I* can understand them or not, what matters is that newbies and fandom-transplants/transfers have no idea what the fuck we're on about. And the YGO pairing name list, upon which you must search for pairing name translations, is hundreds upon HUNDREDS of combinations long, growing, and organized alphabetically by pairing name, not character name.

My point is....the way I see it, dumb pairing names are never gonna completely die out. I'd rather...herd...the use of such rather than attempt to eradicate it. Dissuade the Silentshippers rather than the Clexxers. I figure we'd have more success that way.

Annnnnnnnnd I lose at coding. ^^;
