Your new family has strong women, some of whom are even lawyers, but who marry strong, curmudgeonly, and stubborn men so the couples balance out fairly well. Everyone is more eccentric than rabid, though there are a few topics (Uncle G, for example) that can have the fangs and claws out in no time. The female line is smarter than the male line, with the line of direct female descent producing the optimal children (she said smugly). My branch of the family is staunchly liberal and well-educated, if a bit scruffy. You can meet them all at my wedding next month, at which I will marry my own strong, curmudgeonly, stubborn man.
