something totally non-slashy

And that would be what, exactly?

Darling sib, you are a true slasher. I, on the other hand, never really saw the subtext. I was in college before my girlfriend at the time pointed out to me that "Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard" is a song about little queer boys. I approach my slash from more of a (hopefully high-class) pornographer's perspective..."Hey, I wonder if I can get X and Y to fuck and have it look real and hot?" Sad, but true. Possibly explains my fascination with rareslash - it's the less likely subtext. More of a challenge, no? I'm a contrarian even in my leisure, I guess.

And ::is ashamed:: while there are a lot of Harry/Snape or Aragorn/Boromir fics out there that are better than anything I could write, nobody writes Melquiades/Buendia better than me...because, erm, nobody else writes it. YESSS! Corner on the market! Erm.

I am learning, however. Rented Holes last night (Is not porn! Is NOT! Is a kid's movie!) and watched it with [livejournal.com profile] cranberryink - having another slasher along helps me to see those moments that are clearly meant to be slashed. However, movie was about twelve-year-olds and so clearly am going to the special hell posthaste. ::searches guiltily for fic:: ::finds none, is surprised, but relieved::We also watched Equilibrium which was awful and incredibly slashy. Because, hello, Sean Bean/Christian Bale. I am learning.

::squees again, randomly, for you reading and liking my fic::

Thanks for the wedding congrats. I assume you're in the UK or something from the times you're online - it was almost midnight my time when we started commenting away at one another, and now I am up and having coffee - but if you feel like an impromptu trip to Illinois in late June, come on over. It's mostly his family and friends - he has more of both than I, and mine generally live out here, on the West Coast, but I'm sure you could at least meet your long-lost aunt and uncle (me mum and dad) and possibly your long-lost Grammy, who is 92 and the sweetest thing on this earth. Should be nice - I'll post f-locked pictures in early July sometime.I'm planning to bring my O'Brian books and start my Sophie/Clarissa fic while I'm out there as my wedding present to myself!
