I strongly second/third getting the new Philips with USB slot. I've got the 5992 ($50 at Costco a while back) and it plays files off the flashdrive and (post-10-second hack) UK and US DVDs like a dream. Plus, like my previous Philips DVP, it also seems to play (with only a few small hiccups) netflix or library DVDs and CDs that my computer DVD drive or audio-CD player find too scratched/permanently hang on.
