You won't be surprised to hear that I think there's a K/S novel that you should read after this episode too. This one's called...Broken Images. In this case, a few months after Mirror, Mirror, they're sent back to the Halken planet, Kirk says over-confidently, "it could never happen again, beam me up!" and lands in a universe where Spock is Capt. of the Enterprise, Vulcans run the Federation, and Jamie Kirk is a little bit beta male. Written by a pro writer slumming, it's lovely and fun, and yes, shows its age, and probably you could have as much fun taking it apart as you have the episode, and yet, I still rec it to you.
