For a pitch, how about something like, "It's a fantastic coming-of-age story! With character development and plot growth and realistic maturation and it's so well-written you care JUST AS MUCH about the stuff as the characters do!" And then you shrug dismissively because a board game is just as valid an idea for an anime as, say, high school football is for a TV show.
