Aha, that backstory had to be a little twisty to get where it needed, but your ability to plot a sensible and believable 180 character twist is brilliant.
Jim Tiberious and his reckless side maps across perfectly, and hmmm yes Uhura a little bitter and angry at fate but wanting to push her abilities to the limit (and maybe loving the adrenaline rush). Spock as a brilliant engineer, and the mastermind part of the criminal mastermind are straightforward - it was the criminal /ex-con/with a criminal record bit that needed the extra plotting.
Damnit, now I want this fic.
(And I'm dangerously susceptable to these sort of ideas regarding art, too. I'm currently painting a fannish crossover because someone suggested a character mapping to me that was out of left field, but worked, and I want to see if it looked right visually, too.)
