Okay, so puckling linked me to this because she's my drug mule into this fandom and also terrible, face wise, and then we spent the last half hour or so sending each other basically every other sentence and going "THIS IS SUPER ACCURATE!!!!" Except I had a lot of additional feels on Sid/Geno, because like, I get that everyone's having fun with Kaner/Tazer and believe me, they're great, but Sid/Geno have my heart, man, okay.
I think what's so great to me about Sid/Geno besides the fact that, like, they met in this super romance novel fashion (HE COMES TO AMERICA! AND THE FIRST THING HE SEES!!! IS THE GLOWING FACE!!! OF SIDNEY CROSBY!!!! It's like Twilight-level soulbonding, jfc) is that like, I spend a lot of time worrying about the mental health of Sidney Crosby? I mean I hardcore, no shit, I will espouse this theory to random passerby on the street and not just make up reality to suit my fandom needs, believe that he's like, either gay or a serial murderer, because no one is THAT FOCUSED on something unless they're hardcore repressing something else, like, say, the urge to murder kittens, or more probably the urge to suck dicks. Like, this is just part of my belief system, okay. And even if he is straight (ahahahahahaha) I just, like, worry that he's so miserable when he's not playing hockey, because what's he going to do when he gets too old to play hockey? MY POOR DUCKLING, etc, etc, etc.
But the thing I love about Sid and Geno is that Geno is the only person I have ever seen Sid with where he seems to genuinely like him maybe almost as much as he likes hockey. Which is practically a marriage proposal, coming from Sidney Crosby. He willingly spends non-hockey time with him.
And Geno, like, he seems to have imprinted on Sid kind of like a duckling, like he has some sort of Sidney Crosby Homing Beacon and is so genuinely fond of him even though he is probably even less fun to hang out with than Tazer, and then they just get all lit up and happy around each other and I internally look like that SNL sketch where Emma Stone and the cast listen to Someone Like You because they'll be okay! My babies are going to be okay!
