He's actually doing a lot better now that Toews isn't in the game. ;-) Which I pretend leads to lots of angsty sex and bickering and wrestling each other off the couch. And Kaner feels bad because he's so happy that he's finally playing well, and his new line is really awesome, but all of this is because Jonny's still not better and that sucks, of course, and he means to not celebrate right in front of Jonny but it's hard to act depressed all the time in your own home when your scoring slump is over and he just -- okay, he kind of hates being center instead of being on the wing and he'd still rather pass instead of shoot, but it's kind of awesome how good he's playing and how good he feels about it.
But he hates being an asshole about it when Jonny's still not playing and when the day's over and they're crawling into bed, he's good and nice and really means it when he says he'd give it up for Jonny to be back. It's only the next day over breakfast that he can't stop himself from crowing again.
Luckily, Jonny seems content to just hit him with things then head in to practise with him when Patrick tells him Jonny'll be playing the second line.
