Yeah. I don't think it will really help our school-to-prison pipeline problem if we turn the schools INTO prisons.
And those news items - yes, and so many more like it, all over the country. Teachers are people, not robots for justice, and they should not be expected to teach AND discipline AND fight AND kill, in part because those are too many jobs for one person, and in part because they call on some diametrically opposed skills and attitudes.
