I'd want to read it too, actually. I know there's a limit to the realism I want in fic, but I don't always want the complete escapism of "everyone's gay and life's utterly easy" either. (Sometimes I do, but there are already stories like that.)

It's weird that this conversation is making me think of a story that isn't even slash -- well, it's genderswitched for one character of the two, so it's sort of het? Sort of slash? -- but it does have that feeling of little revelations with the character revealing she has a daughter and people shifting ideas of her because the "mom" label now applies. I'd like it if I could remember the title of that fic.
