Oh god, yeah, that's a very closely related variant and pretty much it just -- it's the re-centering it on the other person and the blithe refusal to acknowledge that that fear is neither irrational nor unfounded. (And, like, no, actually it doesn't make it very much better for me if character B is queer and/or out themself. It's still ugly and complicated, and that fear is STILL not unfounded in real interactions. I'm slightly more sympathetic to character B having their own mass of issues if they're also queer, but. It's still painful and frustrating as hell.)
