I have never been able to describe the fatigue that just standing up could induce to anyone who has not had it. It's like -- nothing else. Food was exhausting. Existence was exhausting.
Hilariously, I entirely understand injured/recovering athletes pushing themselves too hard, though, because I was really mad I'd been forbidden by the doctor to go to a gymnastics competition that was upcoming and my parents were sticking by that. If I'd had my driver's license, I would probably have driven myself and competed anyway, despite what a TERRIBLE idea absolutely everything about that was just on the face of it.
Oddly enough, knowing exactly what is going through their heads does not prevent me wanting to smack athletes who do stuff like that! It just means I want to smack teenage!me and all athletes who have not learned to yell down that part of their psyche. >_>
