i hadn't realized "fandom summary" was misleading - I'll go ahead and change that, and my apologies.
I guess it's just a different taste. There are several canons I actively dislike (SW:TPM, anyone?) without it affecting the way I relate to the fandom. And at least half of the fandoms I'm involved in, I have no knowledge of the canon at all, nor any plan to acquire it. I don't understand passionate defense of canon, be it characters, overall quality, or actors - why does it matter if someone thinks Dom's character in the movie has an arc, if they can still enjoy and participate in the fandom? I guess that's where our views diverge.
I found the movie to be quite painfully bad, myself. Enjoyable, but definitely wince-worthy in parts. And I'm really not a Paul Walker fan. But you know I love this fandom, and I love all the great fic people write, and I love the Brian and Dom that come to life in the fiction. I don't need to like the movie to like the wonderful stories that people have created based on it.
Again, sorry for a misleading link, and I'mma go fix that right now.
