What a timely post--this Friday is vid rec night on [Unknown site tag], and I am in my usual dither over whether to give a vid rec. I've rec'd many times for Crack Van, and I think I've only given three vid recs, for vids I absolutely adored (no matter how old they are, so there).
I have a hard time writing even 100% positive commentary on vids, never mind concrit. I have a strong reaction to music and visuals, and I do have thoughts, but they are rarely coherent enough to write out. I am not a writer, so writing anything is not easy for me. (If I weren't so social a being, I might never bother. *g* But I have things to say, and by golly, I will say them.)
Also, if I hate the song choice, no way can I give FB, because I can't watch it the multiple times necessary. If I feel neutral about the song, I can usually go with teh flow, and by the fifth time I've seen it, I might even like the song iself, or at least agree that it's right for the characters/fandom.
Anyway--I linked this post in my LJ in the post I asked for X-Men and dS vid recs. Time is running out, and I hope my flist will help me out here. ;)
