Y'know, the LJ fairy decided to wait until yesterday to drop this off in my mailbox, hence the laterness of my reply. But I did go check out the Go wank at SL, and. Well. Go players (and especially their rabid fans) really are a bit, um, special about the game, aren't they? Seemed awfully familiar, somehow. Black is white is ying (or yang), and one moku is worth the aggravation of an entire neighbouring country? Sounds like fandom to me!

And again, Go is Life! *g* Now I'm trying to imagine a)friendslocking a game b) the Ki'in as a friendslist and c)Hikaru no Livejournal. All are delightfully crackalicious. Because you just know Touya would use his LJ as a game record or something, all wordless grids of space and numbers and kifu across time, while Hikaru's might read like a list of spazzy IMs: what time is the study session and won the game against Waya, he owes me ramen/NcDonald's interspersed with the occasional very insightful comment and, of course, repeated iterations of What is That Guy's problem anyway?!! I figure there would be a lot about That Guy.
Hikaru and Akira fangirls and boys! Hikaru's whole defense of the 16th-ranker? Love. And the swing of Akira's hair as he totally ignored the poor kid playing him in favour of asking Hikaru out on a date to a study session just destroyed me. With laughter, yes, but also with the awesome.
it'd be easier to persist if there was more fic to recommend 'm trying, I really am. It's all... simmering right now, just waiting for my next massive deadline to come flying out onto the screen, because nothing says time to write fic! like massive amounts of needless adrenaline. *sigh*
Lastly, that bit with the fan? Gets me every. Single. Time. *goes to read/watch again*
