Apologies for my bad spelling. "Horshack." He was one of the Sweathogs on Welcome Back, Kotter. I believe he was a closet A student, and yet he was still one of a band of juvenile delinquents. Whenever the teacher would ask a question, and he knew (or thought he knew) the answer, he would wave his hand in the air, and cry "Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! Mr. Kotter! Mr. Kotter!" (pronounced "kata")" till Mr. Kotter called on him just to shut him up.

I like the term "lummox," too. It has a lumbering, bovine feel to it.
