i am crazy about my nikon coolpix L3; they do not make that particular model anymore, but i would highly recommend anything in the coolpix family (i think my father, who bought his over the summer, has an ... L10? L8? SOMETHING WITH A BIGGER NUMBER). for a tiny little point and shoot -- it fits in my back pocket with ROOM TO SPARE -- it takes really spectacular photos. and th coolpix cameras have tons of features, but if you don't want to use those features, they're also really easy to point at, say, a fat cat rolling around on the floor with a stuffed football, and just click the button and the photos are great.
