People are unhappy with the first Transformers movie, because they used it as a vehicle to kill off all the original characters, including Optimus Prime, and to replace them with a new bunch of characters.

...Wow. Harsh. Even in a movie for adults, they wouldn't kill off the entire franchise. No wonder people are bitter. I'm bitter on their behalf, and I only know Optimus Prime from David's story. (Although I love him to pieces there. As who wouldn't?)

Bizarrely, they used Hugo Weaving for the movie, but Frank Welker for the prologue DVD and for the game.

I admit that not having the right voice actors for your characters can be horrible - I still cringe when I hear the English-language voices for some of my favorite anime series - but at the same time, I'm like: "Hugo Weaving! How can that not be awesome?" You can probably tell I'm not familiar with the Transformers oeuvre.
