but you constantly make me think "But wait... if it's really that good... shouldn't I take a look?"
*enormously pleased* This is what I aim to do!
"Long-winded and wickedly convincing" also applies to you!
And would likewise be a suitable sentiment for eulogy or gravestone! *plans ahead*
Using pictures instead of words!
For me, since I am so very not visual and so incredible word-fixated, this was like a lightning bolt. You can do this! In pictures, not words! So very amazing. *still kind of awed by the whole thing*
Perhaps I've got used to being around people who talk about things I can relate to and understand in fandom. We share amazing things that outsiders don't understand; when suddenly I felt like an outsider myself, it was tough. Fortunately perseverance paid off and now I understand a bit more.
I consider that I had an enormous advantage in getting vids, in that I am very used to being the one who doesn't get it. I never got television (although fandom has pretty much taught me that, at least the extent that I'm capable, which is so exciting), so I was very used to being the person sitting there going, "Nope, never heard of that - have no idea what that reference was - oh my god, what is happening on that screen?" Compared to that, vids seemed so easy and accessible. (Which is not to say they were either. Just, basically anything is easy and accessible compared to TV.) But I can totally see that if you didn't have that lead-in experience, it would be kind of alienating. But also, I hope, rewarding? Maybe?
