Whee fun. What field are you in? And what approach are you taking to your research? *curious* (Of course, don't tell me if you need deception or whatever in your study design.)
I'm technically in Social Science, Media, and Communication at my Uni. It's a really hybrid program, actually, but there's a lot of interesting research being done on the internet and computer-mediated communication (CMC, in the lingo). I haven't exactly pinned down my approaches at this point, but I will be looking at how vidding intersects different media forms, re-interpretation and co-opting of mainstream sources, critique of television, female-based community, copyright issues... I think I'm going to cover a lot of bases.
Your advisors are EXCITED by your thesis topic? Wow.
Tell me about it! And I pitched a really serious and straight-laced topic before this one as well. But they much prefer vidding. They even suggested that I make a vid that somehow presents my research (which I will totally try once I figure out how). It's craziness.
And please drop me an email or stop by my blog, if you'd like to talk further - I would love to!
