Poll: Distraction Is Good
I'm kind of - not too bright sometimes. For example, when I grabbed an oven rack to move it around without, um, checking to see if it was hot? That was a "not so bright" moment in my life, right there.
Also, ow.
So I want distraction, with a minimum of typing involved. It's time for a poll! With, ideally, lots of comments! Come on, people - please. Distract me.
(I do actually have a place I'm going with this, by the way - except for the last question, which is there solely because LJ is crazed tonight. I'm trying to find out what fans do and how they do it. Assuming the ice does its job, I'll have a meta post on this sometime in the distant, murky future. Probably.)

I feel such a strong bond (no pun intended) of sympathy over this remark, because - yes. I am just the kind of person to do this.
In fact, you'd better stay in SGA, because if I do try to superglue you to the fandom, it will probably end in tears. And both of us superglued to a ticking bomb or something.
Then in the third season JJ abandoned it in favor of writing Lost and the writers admitted in a interview that they had no idea what was going on from episode to episode.
Ouch. That is most definitely a Bad Sign. Like, cosmic omen type bad sign - "the writers don't know what they're doing" is the kind of thing that should be in a neon warning before every episode of a show like that. Also possibly as a continuously printed line at the bottom of the screen: Bad Writing Alert. Take Cover. Bad Writing Alert. Take Cover.
Really, it sounds like it suddenly became badfic. Canon badfic. I sincerely hope there's some kind of group therapy for Alias survivors.
Over a megabyte of comic book X-Men peeling off of continuity (continuity+Marvel=go ahead, laugh, hyena, laugh) whenever the heck I stopped buying the danged things.
On the one hand, I'm thinking - hey, I want to read that! But on the other hand, I have my own Things That Must Not Be Read - one in BtVS (80k words of story built on a single episode in a season I didn't watch, OMG) and one in SGA (50k words of fusion with Dead Zone, which I stupidly sent off to brilliant betas whose writing I love before I realized it was a TTMNBR - and, yeah, not hearing back from them was a giant clue). I have come to the conclusion that any fiction I write that is over 20k words is Deeply Suspect.
