Yunno torchwood has a time travel ep, right? & that's not even counting the Dr-related timetravel hijinx, because the Dr is not allowed to actually appear in a spin-off series. Jack in the 1940's was oh so pretty. See, the first time (as far as we know) he was in the 1940's (of many, I think he likes it there), Jack picked a dead war hero, fudged his records, stole his name & used his identity to run a con. Then later (50 years chronologically & not-even-he-knows how long on his own time scale), he slips back to earlier in the 1940's, & meets Capt. Jack Harkness. The original gorgeous dashing war hero, still alive, one night only. My housemate & I had a Lord King Bad Vid challenge, because their one night together is so adorable & angsty & sappy. Or... actually, not really a time travel. Just a crossover between Rome and BSG. Galactica finds a planet inhabited by primitive human society. Felix Gaeta (navigation officer, assorted tech skills, idealistic, a bit broken now, ethical & urbane & very smart, heroworship crush on Dr Gaius Baltar, [who is a genius, who gets elected president & works with the cylons & signs death warrants & breaks poor Felix's heart so bad]) gets captured by Marc Antony (tv series version), who jic you don't know is hot, brutal, crass, easily amused and have I mentioned hot? On the day he was to give a speech at Caeser's funeral, he refused to get out of bed til someone fucked him. Likes fucking pretty people, loves a good battle. But it kinda reads like a time travel fic, just because of the completely disparate levels of technology, & the fact that Antony is a historical figure.
And, the natural conclusion: Erogatio (http://community.livejournal.com/vintagemilitary/4296.html#cutid1). If I only knew Antony through fanfic, I'd think he just made camp, surrounded by lots of soldierboys, wherever it suited him, & waited for hot strangers from other fandoms to be brought to him by confused sentries. And if I know anything about Capt. Jack, it's that he does indeed get around, & he will show up wherever there are gorgeous men, women, or alien life forms with extra hands/breasts/mouths/whatever, in any country/time period/universe. So, this crossover was utterly inevitable.
