John ends up with Rodney either because "duh" he doesn't really think about it or because no one else would have Rodney without the promise of a firm end date. Or both. I'm not picky.
Like, 6 months later, they haven't moved back out. Despite, you know, the emergency having been over for at least three (for me the initial MUST has to go on for long enough that they get past the OH GOD KILL NEW ROOMATE!! stage that everyone, no matter how awesome you're getting along, goes through, newlyweds who move in after marriage have this put off while they have lots of sex) It seemed like effort or something. You know, typical reasons. Busy busy, lots to do. Moving during your off time sucked.
And like-- 3 months later. John looks up from doing THEIR laundry and his knees sort of half buckle.
He stomps back to the room. "We're in a relationship!"
Rodney: *doesn't look up from his laptop* Is the laundry done?
