So, hi, y'all. I'm pregnant. (Twelve weeks, due at the beginning of June, we don't know the sex yet. Judging from the ultrasound, I would say it is an alien implanted in my uterus by devious means. However, unless we make some major, speedy advances in space travel, it will probably be born on this planet, so I choose to think of it as a future earthling. Crazy optimism, I know.) This could occasion some posting on real-life topics from me, which I know is not what most of you are here for. So, I will be creating a filter. It's opt-in; you don't have to say anything if you don't want on.

Posts to the filter could be frequent. They could be short. They could be unfunny. They could be extremely boring. They could be non-existent. They could be excessively personal or contain mention of bodily fluids. I have no way to tell, because this is new territory for me.

Do I need to friend you to be on the filter?

Hi,

I'd really like to be on the filter. I was initially, then couldn't see the posts after a short while. Was this because I didn't friend you back? I actually have an empty livejournal and don't know how to add friends, but I'll try to if that's what I need to do. I enjoy your parenting adventures and your recs, and am loving (and reading aloud to spouse) your ST:TOS recaps.

Whoops! I'm sorry. The thing is, sometimes I go through and defriend journals that haven't updated and don't have me friended, because I assume they've been abandoned. Which yours obviously is not. So I've re-added you to the earthling filter. You don't have to friend me - I will do my best to remember your LJ is not abandoned, and if I screw up again, you can always comment or email me (thefourthvine at livejournal dot com) and I will add you right back. I truly don't want to leave anyone out who wants to be on the filter!

If you want to friend me, though, it's easy to do. Click on the little person icon next to my user name --> (<lj user="thefourthvine"); that will take you to my profile page. On the right side of the profile page, near the top, you'll see a set of options: add friend, add note, etc. Click on add friend, then click on confirm, and you will be all set.
