Real Life: News
So, hi, y'all. I'm pregnant. (Twelve weeks, due at the beginning of June, we don't know the sex yet. Judging from the ultrasound, I would say it is an alien implanted in my uterus by devious means. However, unless we make some major, speedy advances in space travel, it will probably be born on this planet, so I choose to think of it as a future earthling. Crazy optimism, I know.) This could occasion some posting on real-life topics from me, which I know is not what most of you are here for. So, I will be creating a filter. It's opt-in; you don't have to say anything if you don't want on.
Posts to the filter could be frequent. They could be short. They could be unfunny. They could be extremely boring. They could be non-existent. They could be excessively personal or contain mention of bodily fluids. I have no way to tell, because this is new territory for me.
So, keeping that in mind, do you want on the filter? A handy poll is provided for your clicking convenience!

But you live in Thousand Oaks, right? (I got smart and checked your userinfo. I'm slow but I can be taught!) And I live in an unincorporated area in the South Bay. So I am totally not the other person you know.
Still. It's awesome to hear about a local fan; I always wonder why we don't seem to have the fannish presence that SF and Chicago and places like that do. (Actually, I think we do, we're just more distributed.) So, hi! *waves to you from relatively nearby*

I know lots of fans in the area; when I go to ComicCon every year everyone I know seems to be there, just none of them are slash fans. We seem to be a much more secretive bunch (understandably). I wish I knew more of us in the area, I had a great time meeting fans when we were traveling last year (we spent a year on the road, went to 50 states and a few countries), I would love to be able to get together with other fans to squee.
I think you are right about us being more distributed. That, and the fact that people who live here aspire to be real writers and not so much fans (or maybe that is just my perspective based on the world I live in).
We should start something...
