Poll: Year End

I've seen lots of people doing year-end wrap-ups, but, well, I don't really have a lot to wrap up. You all know how my year went. Instead, I thought I'd ask you: how was your year? Are you happy, baby? (I'm also curious because a lot of people seem to have had absolutely terrible 2007s; I'm wondering if it was just the Cursed Year or what.)

And the question at the end is a very important one. Best Beloved and I were talking about that story, and we totally disagreed about what happened. I'd like to be proved right by majority rule, please. Voting is key.

[Poll #1114196]

Unbelievably, that's the first time I've read that story. Huh. So already 2008 is enriched!

On the whole, 2007 was pretty awesome. There were ups and some really big downs, but still. Pretty good year. Hopefully this year I can write more while still remembering where I left my fangirl squee. That'd be swerval.

I have sucked at reading LJ for a little while, but I just saw your big news, and since I gather it was something you've been working for and wanting for a while... WOW CONGRATULATIONS! I hope you keep us updated! :)

I had never read that story, but I went with 'dude is totally dead. unless the princess has some nefarious scheme to kill his new wife or something'.

I also learned while answering your poll that I can't spell 'stephen'. even when double-checking, the second I click the button I will see the wrong letters there being sent into the internet. o_O

i'm doing a lot better than last year, not because last year was bad, but mostly because i was doing a lot 'recovery' from the year before. this year, things moved more fluidly, i wasn't stymied by not enough $$ to cover my expenses, which seems greedy, but definately helps.

and also, in 2006, i had gotten a job in march and had gotten back on paxil in june - it's amazing, really how much time it can take to recover from just being depressed with no meds for a couple of years. this year, despite never seeming to have time for anything, i feel like i have my energy back. and i'm moving towards meeting my over-all life goals, which had seemed *really* far away before i got this job and i think it took me most of 2006 to figure out that yeah, i *am* in a position to do what i want to do.

all this makes me feel pretty good.

only downside, not enough time to read all the fic i want to, and not enough motivation to write. i need to work on that. in between the myriad cross-stitching projects.

After rereading The Lady or the Tiger, I now have the insane urge to write McShep au fic using that idea. Heh.

IMO, she pointed him to the tiger. I think the build up and the commentary on her 'nature' all lead in that direction.

The Sum of All Things

*blushes* Even though this 'essay' was written in 2005, it still pretty well sums everything up. *g*

UPDATE the Second: Have now chased out a whole family of raccons, a possum, and had the biggest d*mn Owl ever decide to set up house in the oak by the window. *g*

The beginning of this year really sucked quite a lot. Dad was so sick, then he died, and Uni was quite hard as a result. Things have picked up since then, and second semester went a lot better - and I graduated yay!

Fannishly - I feel like I've just been idling along, really. I didn't watch much canon for anything, I read much less fanfic than I have in past years, I hardly made any recs, and although I wrote a bit I didn't finish much. That said, I do love what I did manage to finish, and I've loved being in fandom so it's hard to quantify how my fannish year's been. Quiet, I guess. (Although it does occur to me that I did manage to organise and run a challenge, and I started vidding, so those are fannish aspirations I managed to achieve.)

Honestly speaking, I can't really assign numbers properly.

PS. I chose the lady out of sheer perversity, because I think the author's stacking the deck towards the tiger. Pshaw! to your authorial intent, dude.

Just commenting to tell you that i love your recs and thanks to you, i now have a healthy 'read obsessed' veiw of vids where i couldn't stand them before. So to get all of your lovely recs on my friend's page so i can keep up with them, i am adding you as a friend.
