Administrative: Opt-in Filters

Sorry, non-earthling filter people! I accidentally posted the earthling voting story unlocked. Which makes this a good time to do some housekeeping, I think.

Almost a year ago, I ran a poll asking people if they wanted to be on my pregnancy filter. That filter became, in the fullness of time, the baby filter. And it's been a while since I asked if people wanted to be on it (it's totally opt-in, and anyone who has me friended (for ease of adding) can be on it; I just don't want to clutter people's friends lists with pictures of my kid unless that's what they want). Or off it.

So. To save my sanity, I'm reinserting that old poll. If you've already taken it, you're already on the earthling filter. (Unless you haven't been seeing the posts, in which case there's some kind of administrative error on my part. Please comment and say so!) If you want to be on the earthling filter and you're not, the way ahead of you is clear.

[Poll #1097994]

But perhaps you are on the earthling filter and wish you were not! If so, this poll is for you:

[Poll #1291677]

I totally love your earthling posts! They remind me so much of when my Ashley was that little and an alien! At 25 she isn't so much so anymore. Now I have to wait for her and her new husband to make me a grandma so I can spoil the new redhead alien they will welcome. Soon I hope! She even wants me to move up to Kentucky so I will be with her when they do have one.

Oh, and I owe you several recipes from my mom's sugar-free cookbook. I just have to find it. I can give you ones on sugar free catsup, sugar-free bar-b-que sauce, and sugar-free pork and beans that I developed for my mom though! If you are interested in those, just let me know!

I'm kind of a lurker and I have pretty much never gotten around to adding this journal to my open-id. Now seems as good a time as any to do so and request an add to the earthling filter! :)

Your OpenID is added! You have the keys to the earthling filter. *g*

*waves hand awkwardly* The earthling looks adorable, I'd love to hear more.

[identity profile] thefourthvine.livejournal.com 2010-02-02 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
And hear more you shall. The earthling filter is subjected to a LOT of earthling talk. *g*

No worries! I have taken you off the earthling filter. And even if you need to defriend me completely (because I do ramble on a bit), you needn't worry about missing out on fannish stuff - that stuff is basically always unlocked, so you can wander by when you have time.

*hugs*

I can't access the poll but I would be very interested in being on the filter. I always find your posts thought-provoking.

[identity profile] thefourthvine.livejournal.com 2010-02-02 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
You're on it! It's not so much thought-provoking as HI HERE IS MY KID LOOK HE'S CUTE, but I hope you enjoy it!

Hello! I'm kind of a lurker, but I'd love to be on your Earthling filter, please! He sounds like a cutie. :)

[identity profile] thefourthvine.livejournal.com 2010-03-01 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry! Apparently LJ ate this comment, because I never got it, but I've added you to the filter now.

And he is TOTALLY a cutie. Although I am biased. *g*

I'm axelrod on DW - but enjoying the hell out of the Woobies Wanted post : ) And curious about how people raise their children, since my own parents weren't great examples. I'm beginning to suspect that good parenting consists of letting kids do their thing and be themselves unless they're going to hurt themselves or someone else, not eat right or sleep enough (or at times which are convenient for other people), not respecting interpersonal boundaries, etc.

Today I linked your Dog and Sweet Potato story to a friend. My friend replies, "I have her current journal on my friend list. She's hilarious. You should add her, and be sure to ask to be on the Earthling filter!"

So here I am :)

[identity profile] thefourthvine.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
You are added to the earthling filter! It's not all dogs and sweet potatoes around here these days, but I hope you'll still enjoy. *g*

I sort of being recently lurking over on Dreamwidth (was linked to one of your rec posts) and I hope I'm not being creepy but small cute humans are always adorable - so may I be added to the earthling filter? *goes back to quietly and politely sitting in a comfy chair in the corner*

[identity profile] thefourthvine.livejournal.com 2010-04-03 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Of course! You are now added to the filter and should be able to see all the earthling posts. Welcome!

I just added you as a friend and definitely want on the earthling filter! I think mine is only a few months younger (10/08).

Heya,

a friend of mine recently introduced me to your journal. I was wondering if you'd mind friending me and place me on the earthling filter? I've loved some of the recs that you've given - you give really comprehensive recs that are really well thought out (I'm kind of new to sg1 fandom and I'm so glad to have been a starting point from you), and as for baby pictures - nothing makes me squee or smile more than those :)

Hiya. I just added you to circle/friended on DW (where I've been following your lovely meta of late) & here and I'd love to be on the earthling filter. It sounds like the earthling is about two years older than my nephew and my RDA of cuteness definitely started going up when he was born. *g*

Added!

I live for Earthling posts!

OK, Earthling posts and beer. Oh, and bacon. And honey-roasted peanuts. But mostly for Earthling posts!

(That is to say, I would like to stay on the E filter.) ;)

I just got turned on to the existence of the Earthling filter by [livejournal.com profile] starwatcher307 -- I would love to be added, please? (I'm straddling both LJ and DW right now, and have just friended you here and subscribed to you on DW and hope that covers the necessary bases; I'm still learning DW's ropes.)

Also -- I may have known once, but had forgotten, that you wrote the I Has A Sweet Potato post, which is a post that makes me happier than any person probably has a right to be every time I read it (again, which I do when I need some extra joy in my life). Thanks for all that happiness!

[identity profile] thefourthvine.livejournal.com 2010-09-06 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Hi! I have added you to the earthling filters, here and on DW; that means you can catch up on the entire earthling backstory on LJ, if you want to (http://thefourthvine.livejournal.com/tag/*earthling), and you'll be able to follow his ongoing adventures on either site. (It took me a while to get the earthling filter up and running on DW, largely because I made the LJ one while I was pregnant, and by the time DW came along, so had the baby, and I didn't have any more TIME.)

And I'm glad to hear that the sweet potato post brings you joy. The Dog of that story was Cassie, and she was the best dog in the world. It makes me happy to know that people on the internet still remember her. I will never forget her.

Hello, I found your journal while skimming yuletide.livejournal.com/friends

I would love to read more about earthling! Thanks!

I've added you to the earthling filter, and you should be able to see back entries on it at my journal. Welcome!
