Poll: When fan fiction meets real life, what happens?

In America at this time of year, we get extremely used to answering invasive questions from total strangers. So I thought I'd conduct a poll that could yield potentially interesting results.

Basically, I'm curious about how you handle the interaction between your real life and your fan life; as someone who just recently invited a real-life, pre-fandom friend to view this rather fannish LJ, I find this a topic of relevance right now. And it's sure less depressing than all the political polls I've been reading.

Well, now, that's odd about my mom. She's old-school feminist, Vatican II Roman Catholic. Nearly as liberal as me; an artist and teacher at a local university. Even drives a Subaru.

I'm pretty sure the anti-porn thing stems from her avowed asexuality, which is tied up in the "OMGSIN" and "OMGEXPLOITATION" from her relgious and feminist sides. I really don't believe she thinks about sex. And I'm honestly not saying that because she's my mom. :)

Thinking more on it, she's not bothered by gay love; she certainly doesn't get why I find it so arousing. She certainly doesn't get my sex drive. I was fairly protected while growning up--it's possible, like the way she still considers me a blonde (which I haven't been for 33 years), that she can't imagine her quiet, book-guzzling daughter as a purveyor and consumer of raunchy man-sex. And woman-sex. And the occasional coed-sex and/or piles.
