Help, friends list?
I need translations (in any language - I will totally welcome things like Elvish and Klingon, too) for the following five words:
Welcome
Read
Listen
Create
Explore
Any bilingual/multilingual people out there who like to help me out? You'll get - okay. You'll just get thanks. But they will be very sincere thanks.

Welcome - Willkommen
Read - Lies!
Listen - Höre!
Create - eh, can of worms, actually. Create in which context? There are manifold translation depending on what you're creating. Most general one would be, IMHO, "Erschaffe".
Explore - Erkunde!/Erforsche! (although the second one is more like research)

And I kind of love that "create" is a can of worms. Oh, German, you are so awesome; I wish I'd kept studying you. Sadly, I don't think we have a very clear idea of the context right now, so the most general one is probably the best way to go.

Silent Night is much prettier in German than English, for some reason, although my German teacher in high school thought it complete drek.

Was there a particular reason why you were singing it in German? I figure that to be pretty difficult, if you don't know the language. (It's spelled "Schlaft in himmlischer Ruhe").
I actually don't know the English lyrics, but it's one of my favourite Christmas songs. :)

i have weird reactions to German: i was born in Germany (Dad was in the US Air Force), and lived there for 3 yrs. my brother and sister spoke it fluently at the time although they've forgotten it now, and the whole family understands spoken German much better than you would think. i don't actually have any memories from then, but anytime someone speaks to me in a language *not* English, my first impulse is to answer in German. never fails, even if i get the wrong word. :-p
